Looking back

Things I've realised by reading posts from a year ago;

1) Other than initially testing it with my Shaun of the Dead DVD, I haven't played anything on the DVD player I bought myself a year ago.

2) I still haven't taken my spare copy of Fleetwood Mac -Tusk back to the record shop.

Its not all work, work, work...

Er, well actually it is. Boo hoo, I've no money so I spent almost the entire weekend slobbing round the house doing bugger all. Apart from the odd bit of housework/washing etc. How dull. The only vaguely interesting thing was a phone call from someone I used to work with asking me if I wanted a job with the engineering company she's with. I was quite enthusiastic until one of the other girls at work with me now told me that the particular company pay a pittance and treated another ex-work colleague like shit. Oh well. When the boss lady rang me the next day I pointed out that I wasn't prepared to move for less than I'm on now (which is £3 k more than I've heard they pay) but she didn't give me any kind of clue what wages I can expect. Hmmmm. I've got an interview/chat with her on Thursday morning but I suspect its going to be a waste of time. Still, one shouldn't always believe rumours and I might be surprised. You never know. At least my new suit that I bought from Sainsburys will get an airing. I love shopping for clothes at Sainsburys especially when they've got a sale on. I saw a red suede handbag in there a few months ago but didn't buy it as I thought £36 was a bit steep. I went in just after new year and it had been reduced to £24. Still didn't buy. Last week or so I went in and it had been reduced again to £16. Bargain! The bag is now safely in my possession and gets lovingly fondled at every opportunity.

I wish I did.

Fun with PCs

There was a scary moment yesterday when we thought the PC had gone tits up yet again. My bro said it was crashing & rebooting repeatedly so this afternoon I popped to our local department store which now has internet access in its downstairs cafe. Ah, no more Easyinternet scum hole for me I thought. £3 for an hour but I thought the cleanliness & civility would be worth it. Except that half the sites I wanted to look at/access, including this blog, were barred. I wasn't happy. And I wasn't even after porn! (er, not that I am back at home you understand). So I thought I'd have to start visiting Easyinternetguantanamo again but fortunately Bro has got the PC back up & running. Phew.

I've had quite a fun, though fat and lardy, weekend. I had a late shift at work & got back into Bolton about 6.45pm ish. I'd only been at the bus stop five minutes when my Bro arrived on his way home too. He asked if I'd had dinner yet & when I replied in the negative, he suggested we tried the brand spanking new Indian restaurant not three feet away, The Achari. Never one to turn down a hot meal, I agreed. Now the area the bus stop & Indian are located in isn't quite the cleanest, fragrant or cosmopolitan. Some days the yobs and chavs are out in force and there is a stench of decaying rubbish in the air. There was previously a Chinese takeaway where the Indian is now and it was by far the worst food I have ever tasted. So I wasn't sure that the Indian would be up to scratch. I needn't have worried. The food was lovely. We didn't ask for poppadums but they brought some anyway with the obligatory chutneys. One of them we didn't recognise but the waiter told us it was their very own sauce made with chillies & various spices & other stuff. Oh it was bloody gorgeous. It looked like tomato ketchup but tasted of heaven. Mmmmmm. Next time we're going to ask if we can buy a jar of the stuff. Hopefully its nothing akin to Soylent Green... "Oh my god.... Achari sauce is people..." The curries were lush too and I had spicy lemon rice with mine which wasn't very spicy but nice & lemony.

Yesterday we went for a day out in Leeds, had a good old troll round the shops which included some rather spectacular Victorian arcades and the Corn Exchange which is huge & like Afflecks Palace in Manchester except you can actually find your way round. We had lunch at a Japanese noodle bar across the road from where my Bro used to work. The Fuji Hiro I think it was called. I had a huge plate full of chicken & prawn noodles (I forget the actual name of it - sorry) which I scoffed as by that time I was bloody hungry. I also tried green tea for the first time which tasted like hot water really. Yum. We also went to a bar across the road from the tiny and wee town hall* called Baroque. It served a dizzying array of beers including draft Leifmans Frambozen (raspberry beer) which was lovely & refreshing after hours of slogging round town. Just typing that is making me thirsty. Luckily I just happen to have a bottle of Frambozen downstairs. Its not cold though so I'll have to settle for a can of Decaf Diet Coke.

As I say, today has been spent in the net caff and I've also been watching various programmes I've recorded like Eleventh Hour and Stargate SG1. Fab to see Patrick Stewart in something but I noticed he's regained some of his Yorkshire accent. "Mek it so Daaaayta!"

Song for Fat Slag...

A thread on Outpost Gallifrey asked us to vent our annoyances in the form of a music hall song. Here is my effort. Hope you like it.

(Chorus)You're a fat stupid slag and you know it
You're a fat stupid slag yes you are
You think you're better than all the rest
But all there is to you is your enormous chest
Go f**k yourself you fat stupid slaaaag

You're flighty and you're girly
You can't spell Curly Wurly
You like fluffy pom poms and pink things
Your perfume is so cloying
Your voice is so annoying
You even like the way Stefani sings

(Chorus)
You're a fat stupid slag and you know it
You're a fat stupid slag yes you are
You think you're better than all the rest
But all there is to you is your enormous chest
Go f**k yourself you fat stupid slaaaag

You think you're so much smarter
Than our boss Mr Carter
You think you've got us all under your thumb
But we all hate your moaning
Your griping and your groaning
And we all laugh at you because you're dumb

(Chorus)
You're a fat stupid slag and you know it
You're a fat stupid slag yes you are
You think you're better than all the rest
But all there is to you is your enormous chest
Go f**k yourself you fat stupid slaaaag

(middle 8 type thing - slower)
Now what we want to say to you
Is don't talk to us like we're thick
The rest of us are more experienced
You really make us sick
Stop acting like a spoiled brat
Please think before you speak
Drop your voice another octave
And we'll let you live another week

(Chorus)
You're a fat stupid slag and you know it
You're a fat stupid slag yes you are
You think you're better than all the rest
But all there is to you is your enormous chest
Go f**k yourself you fat stupid slaaaag
Go f**k yourself you fat stupid slaaaaaaaaaaaag!

How very sweet

Hurrah! I received my Docs today. Fandabidozy! As if I wasn't chuffed enough at this I found a little box of chocolates lovingly put in with the boots. Aw. What nice people. So if you want a reasonably priced pair of boots and an ickle box of chocs thrown in go to Sowerby's of Stourbridge. What a freebie slut I am.

New series

So many programmes back on the air this week I'm not sure that I can keep track. I've just about caught up with the eps of Stargate SG1 and Atlantis that I recorded before Xmas but now there's even more to watch. Last night saw the return of Sea of Souls which was cool. I'm sure there's something on tonight (apart from the E4 repeat of new ER), Life on Mars tomorrow night as well as Paul McKenna Can Make You Thin (might as well give it a shot) then Battlestar Galactica & SG1 on Tuesday, Atlantis on Wednesday & ER on Thursday. Not to mention the final two episodes of Lost on Channel 4. Um, its not that I've not got a social life or anything...

I'm still awaiting a brand spanking new pair of Doc Martens I ordered online over a week ago. I finally got an email that the order had been processed on Thursday and that it would reach me the next day (probably) but they're still not here. Hope the weather holds off for a little while longer. I've also ordered In a Glass Darkly by JS Le Fanu from Amazon since I couldn't get it in Waterstones. Its a collection of ghost stories that I heard about on one of those documentaries over Xmas. MR James (Victorian ghost story writer) was a fan of his and I'm sure I've read something of his before & really enjoyed it so I ordered the book. Should reach me in about 6 months...

I've also bought three more CSI books to fuel my addiction. Well, its not like I've got any new eps to watch.

Bored

Gawd I'm bored. I've spent far too much time over the festive period sitting on my arse, eating and watching telly and I'm sick of it. I've read both my CSI books (note to self to buy more), there's nothing on worth watching and its too late to go out anywhere. As I've just remarked on the Outpost Gallifrey forum, I'm almost glad I've got work tomorrow. And that is bad. Very bad. What can I do?

1) Read my Derek Acorah or Most Haunted books.
2) Read some CSI femslash.
3) Hoover my room.
4) Listen to the KT Tunstall album for the 100th time.
5) Dig out my Q puzzle compendium and exercise my brain cells.
6) Watch the eps of Most Haunted that I've recorded over the past few months.
7) Drink myself into a coma.
8) Flash my boobs out of the bedroom window.

Or I could combine 3, 4, 7 and 8 and hoover my room topless with the curtains open whilst listening to KT then drink myself into a coma.

Hmmm, sounds like a plan!
